Policy change for driving on field roads and interior zone roads during Turkey Season

During deer season, driving igloo area roads is limited to the patrol road, A-8 road, and Rt-2. It has not applied to other types of hunting in the past. Driving on field roads has been allowed when the ground was dry enough for access.

An increased number of turkey hunters have begun using roads to locate birds. This has increased safety concerns and infringed on the rights of other hunters, which will not be tolerated.

The same driving rules for MOD and P&L used during deer hunting will apply for turkey season. In all other zones, during turkey season, only paved or gravel roads may be driven for hunting area access. Violators will be punished accordingly.

HUNTING PROCEDURE CHANGES DUE TO SECURITY POSTURE

Due to current security guidance, personnel requesting a license to hunt on Milan AAP must obtain a state criminal history record check from their state of residence. Tennessee residents may obtain this record check from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at www.tbi.state.tn.us . This requirement does not apply to personnel who are plant employees with current valid security checks, active duty military, dependents and guests.

Upon receiving the criminal history record check results, mail or fax the report to the Milan AAP Army Security Officer at the following address or fax number:

MLAAP Army Security Office
2280 Hwy-104 West Suite 1
Milan, TN 38358-3176
or
Fax to 731-686-6077

The Army Security Office will forward approved names to the Natural Resource Office for license sale.

Current security posture adjusts the locations where personnel may hunt on the installation. All hunters regardless of their status require plant commander approval prior to receiving their license:

bulletAll Areas: Includes MLAAP plant operating personnel with valid badge access and security checks, dependents and guests (who are the responsibility of their sponsors.)
bulletAll Areas outside of restricted areas (MOD, P/L): Active Duty Military and approved Hunters not affiliated with plant operations with approved criminal history record checks (not to include General Public)
bulletZones 21-24: All personnel to include General Public with approved criminal history record checks

If you have any questions, contact the Army Security Office at 731-686-6247 or 731-686-6591.
